THIS SITE IS AN ON GOING AND IT CHANGES AS I LEARN MORE ABOUT THE BREED AND AKC POLICIES AND. I HAVE LEARNED A LOT BY BEING THROWN INTO MANY SITUATIONS OVER THE PAST EIGHT YEARS. SOME THINGS I WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY, AND THAT IS WHY I HAVE CREATED THIS SITE. I ENCOURAGE ANYBODY TO WAIT TO BREED. IT TAKES TIME TO LEARN ABOUT THE WORLD OF AKC AND DOG BREEDERS. I DON'T BELIEVE ALL THE AKC BREEDERS ARE BAD; BUT I DO BELIEVE THE AKC ORGANIZATION IS THE CAUSE OF MANY OF THE PROBLEMS I HAVE EXPERIENCED. MAYBE SOMEBODY ELSE WON'T HAVE TO GO THROUGH SOME OF THESE THINGS. THANK YOU FOR VISITING. IT'S NOT ABOUT PUPPY SALES. YOU SHOULD BUY WHAT YOU LIKE, JUST KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING INTO

THE TIBETAN MASTIFF IS NO LONGER A RARE BREED. IN RECENT YEARS, MANY PEOPLE HAVE BOUGHT AND BRED ANY TWO TIBETAN MASTIFFS THEY COULD GET WITH THE THOUGHT OF MAKING A LOT OF MONEY AND NOW THERE ARE TONS AND TONS OF THEM FOR SALE. MOST HAVE SIMLIAR PEDIGREES. DON'T SPEND THOUSANDS WHEN YOU CAN GET THEM FOR AS LOW AS $400.00. CERTAINLY DON'T PAY IN EXCESS OF $2000.00 OR MORE. THAT IS JUST SILLY. I WOULD URGE YOU TO SEE THE HEALTH TEST RESULTS AS MANY OF THESE DOGS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN TESTED. YOU MAY ALSO WANT TO CONTACT BLUE LION RESCUE.

WARNING! "COULD" BUYING AN AKC DOG PUT YOU AT RISK FOR THREATS AND SLANDER? I BELIEVE SO. WITH SO MUCH MONEY RIDING ON THE DOGS; SICK AKC BREEDERS HAVE SOCIAL MEDIA "HATE SITES" TO KEEP THEIR UNSATIFIED CUSTOMERS SILENT WITH LIES AND SLANDER. I would be happy to share links to these self proclaimed "ELITIIST'S" Facebook "HATE" sites with you so you can see for yourself. Based on what I have seen it is done all in the name of selling dogs, website products, magazine articles, cards, etc. EMAIL ME FOR LINKS. Why? I believe it is all about the money; not the dogs. They will threaten to sue anybody who shares their personal experiences with them. I do respect the breeders who are not partaking in this unethical behavior and I and you should take note of the names of those breeders who are participating on these "HATE" sites. Just remember it could be you, their customer next. Think about it. This site is about my experience with AKC breeders and people who make a living off dogs. It is basically a generalization of the characteristics it has taken me seven years to realize. If you ask questions, they will attack you. If you question them, they will attack you. They are a very nasty group of people I.M.O. I believe the root of all these nasty people is the AKC; based on what I have witnessed. Again, just my opinion. I see how they attack people and when it comes right down to it; it's about show competition and dog sales. That is why I won't register my dogs with AKC. After years of seeing all the ins and outs, the ways they slander and lie about people, I refuse to give AKC another dime. It's not about one breeder or another; it's about the whole system that allows them to act like they do.

I have found it funny to see how the old saying "what goes around comes around" works. Many of these people starting these "HATE SITES" told me to stay away from one breeder because they were well let's just say a little rough with their wording and they had a reputation for suing everybody. For all the breeders who have been in the breed a long time, you know what I am talking about so you must find these breeders now setting up their "HATE SITES" and threatening to sue their disatified customers amusing! From what I see there are three main people in this circle. I was told from the beginning one was a "puppy mill" by several people. It appears all three do not have jobs. One is probably on public assistance as I was told by them that nothing is in their name. One has made enemies around the globe :). All I can say, it must be stressful trying to make a living off dogs or dog related products. Quite a group!. All very good at deception. Good luck to those who fall for the bait. PLEASE LOOK AT THE NAMES OF THE MEMBER ON THESE "HATE SITES" and be sure to go to anybody that is not on those list. Remember, it could be you next. I guess they are finding it hard to take what they have been dishing out for years. I saw it a while ago and I haven't been in the breed nearly as long as many. I don't know the entire history because I haven't been in the breed that long, but what from what I have seen; none of it makes sense. First they don't like the breeder because they "supposedly" don't have a contract; now they don't like the breeder because they do have a contract but they don't like it. One has to ask, why do these "Elite" hate mongers want this breeder's dogs if they hate them so much? Why get their dogs in unscruptulous ways and use them in your breeding program? Why not buy your own dogs from overseas or something? The only thing I can figure is they are all NUTS.

If you want a great Tibetan Mastiff; go to a small hobby breeder who does not care about showing. This is not to say that all show people are bad; some small breeders like to show and I say good for them; but these horrible busy body AKC "ELITE" breeders seem so obsessed with what everybody else is doing that I believe you are only asking for trouble by even asking their advice. Remember; follow the money. The "Elitists" I am talking about have no jobs so remember "FOLLOW THE MONEY". It's all about recognition for them and money. This is never a good reason to breed dogs. They have all the time in the world to "bash" others and pick pepper off poop so just imagine what they might do to you if they "turn on you". No, I highly recommend staying away from "Elitist" who feel they are better than you and set up social media "HATE SITES" to attack others instead of worrying about their own dogs. These are very scary individuals. I GOT MY FIRST TM FROM A VERY NICE LOW KEY SMALL BREEDER AND I WISH ALL MY EXPERIENCES WERE LIKE THAT. Very down to earth. Not the "ELITE" know it all type at all. Just a guy that loved his dogs and the breed. These "ELITE" breeders are ruining the breed by attacking and making enemies of everybody around the world that love the breed. THEY REALLY NEED TO GET REAL JOBS AND STOP RUINING THE TIBETAN MASTIFF BREED BECAUSE THEY HAVE TOO MUCH TIME ON THEIR HANDS AND DEPEND ON THE BREED TO MAKE THEIR LIVING AND FEEL IMPORTANT!

I AM OF THE OPINION THAT THESE SELF PROCLAIMED and SO CALLED "ELITE" BREEDERS HAVE CREATED THEIR "DILEMNA" WITHIN THE TIBETAN MASTIFF BREED BY STICKING THEIR NOSES INTO EVERYBODY's BUSINESS AND SLANDERING PEOPLE INTO BREEDING MORE AND MORE OUT OF SPITE. JUST MY TAKE ON THE WHOLE "SITUATION"

*** THESE SELF PROCLAIMED "ELITISTS" BASH EVERYBODY ABOUT WHAT THEY CLAIM AS "THEIR" BREED. THEY GO ON ABOUT MIXING THEM WITH OTHER BREEDS AND ON AND ON AND ON. ITGETS SO OLD. THIS WOULD BE CALLED "RACISM" IN HUMAN TERMS. CAN YOU IMAGINE THEM PROHIBITED PEOPLE OF DIFFERENT RACES FROM PROCREATING? THIS IS WHAT THEY SPEND THEIR DAYS WORRYING ABOUT. ALL I HAVE TO SAY TO THEM IS "GET A LIFE AND A JOB". DO SOMETHING ELSE BESIDES MONITORING EVERY BODY ELSE.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION WHEN RESEACHING BREEDERS

IT HAS BEEN WRITTEN THAT SOME OF THE MOST UNPLEASANT HUMANS ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH HAVE BEEN DRAWN TO THE BREED TO PROTECT THEIR OWN AGGRESSIVE AND HOSTILE REPUTATIONS AND PROJECT THEM ONTO THEIR EXOTIC CHANGES. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY TRUE AND SAD ASSESSMENT WITH THE TIBETAN MASTIFF. THESE ARE GOOD WORDS TO HEED; ESPECIALLY WITH LARGE AKC "corporate puppy mills".

Because of my knowledge and dealings with show people in general; I highly recommend staying away from any breeder who promotes their dogs as "champions". You have eyes and I believe most people will go with what their personal tastes are. I know that I will never deal with any of the breeders near me because of my personal experiences. Many of the AKC show breeders and "elitist" have migrated over to the UKC since many good people are leaving AKC because they are sick of the politics. It's all about marketing and money to them. It is my hope that these folks don't "contaminate" the UKC Just remember, anybody that breeds more than one breed, is high volume, and pushes showing and membership in clubs are probably somebody you want to stay away from. An elitist is somebody who "thinks" they are better than everybody else and that their dogs are the only good ones. Use your eyes, judgment, and "follow your heart" when choosing a breeder.

Here are a few guidelines when looking at breeders.

Stay away from breeders who are constantly bragging about "championships". Breeding for the show ring can lead to all kinds of fraud, corruption, and unethical behaviors such as inbreeding, false pedigrees, and unhealthily / unstable dogs. These things are done because there is so much money riding on show dogs that include show, handling, and other fees. Small "hobby breeders" usually are not concentrating on winning in the ring; therefore it only makes sense that they are more focused on health, temperament, and stability. They are generally more concerned with the dogs rather than being part of "elite" groups and do not incur all the overhead of the show ring. Championships can be bought.

Avoid breeders who breed multiple breeds.

Avoid contracts where you owe puppies back in the future or require showing.

Person in possession of the dog should be listed as the owner.

Avoid highly inbred lines. This is called C.O.I. (co-incidence of inbreeding) Just search the subject and you can find many articles of explanation.

Avoid certain dogs in pedigrees. Certain dogs in some lines can be a liability.

Small "hobby" breeders seem to be the most ethical in my opinion

Be wary of "elite" breeder sites that endorse showing and memberships in clubs. People like this usually feel they are better than everybody else. It is not a becoming trait and usually winds up in competition for sales and notoriety. Clubs and showing is no different than any other political organization. It is almost always corrupt and beneficial to those in charge. Do you really want to deal with somebody that admits they are an "elitist" and better than others?

It's never good when people have to breed to make a mortgage payment. That is usually how unethical behavior starts. It usually becomes all about the money and not about the dogs.

Ask to see the results of hip, elbow and thyroid testing on the parents of the litter.

THE TIBETAN MASTIFF'S COAT

The coat of a Tibetan Mastiff lacks the unpleasant "big-dog smell" that affects many large breeds. The coat, whatever its length or color(s), should shed dirt and odors. Although the dogs shed somewhat throughout the year, there is generally one great "molt" in late winter or early spring and sometimes another, lesser molt in the late summer or early fall, making it a good breed for allergy sufferers. test
